The Skin Saga Routine: The Morning
Who doesn't love reading about people's skin care routines? I actually really love it.
Finding what works for others is so helpful to me. It just opens my eyes to other people's struggles for clear skin. Lord knows that I have struggled with my skin since college. No idea why I never really had a problem in high school when you are supposed to have skin issues, but I never really did.
Anyways, I am going to share with you my daytime routine. You will be able to read my nighttime routine next week.
Alright. Onto the exciting stuff.
I want to start off this by saying that I wash my face twice a day no matter what. Even really drunk. I somehow make it work...don't ask me how.
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser // I actually accidentally bought this stuff. I meant to buy the one that lathers but clearly I got the wrong one. In my defense they are similar looking. I do like this because it is a VERY mild cleanser. I don't have crazy sensitive skin, but I love this because it works so well with my Clarisonic (more in part 2). It is very gentle but I still feel clean, which I love.
Dickenson's Witch Hazel // Before I bought a big bottle of this, I was using Clinique's Acne Solutions toner. I honestly feel so much cleaner after I use a toner, so I will probably go to the grave using one. I feel like it gets everything that the Clarisonic doesn't get off my face. I had always heard how great Witch Hazel is, but I never really knew. Man. This stuff is truly amazing. My face is on the way to looking the best it has ever looked before college. I am serious guys. It doesn't sting or tingle or anything, but I can tell it's working because the blemishes that I did have are gone. Oh, and I just had my lovely monthly visitor and I had no new acne come up. That hasn't happen in FOREVER.
L'Oreal Youth Code Correcting Serum // I feel like I have been on the search for a dark spot corrector or illuminator for over 2 years. At least it feels that way. I was reading an article online and it said to try this product. I loved that it was $25 so it didn't break the bank and I loved that I could get it at drug stores. This serum works so well. I use it twice a day and it is working! It's a little slow--no immediate results--but if you stick with it, you will see results. I am so happy with this product. The best thing about it? Even though I use it twice a day, it doesn't cause me to break out. I have used products that after continued use make you break out. It happens ladies. But this one didn't do that for me. I am so happy with this product.
Aveeno Clear Complexion Moisturizer // I have used this product in the past (along with Aveeno's Acne line) and as great as it was, it seemed like it stopped working. I bought this product because we thought that Jeremy was going to lose his job and I wanted to get something less expensive than Clinique. I had success with this stuff as well before, so I figured I would use it again. It's thick but not greasy and I use it before I put on makeup. It has salicylic acid in it so it helps fight blemishes for you. I love that. Even though Jeremy didn't end up losing his job, I still want to use up this product. Why waste it?
My face goal is to be able to wear BB cream instead of foundation in the summer. We are getting closer people! I am so happy with the results of my routine so far. It is working and I just love that!
What's your morning skin care routine?
I've been told witch hazel is good for clearing up clogged pores, especially on your nose area. Have you found that? I use a toner regularly but not witch hazel and I need to clean out some pores! haha
ReplyDeleteHiya!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog on today's blog hop and I'm so glad that I did. Before moving to England I was an Atlantian. I've always used Clinque's dramatically different moisturiser and it works so well that I am scared to switch. But I do want to find something more cost effective. SO good tip about the Aveeno.
Come by and say hey anytime. xx

Hi Kristyn! I found you on GYB Hop! I love reading about skin care too. I'm easily sucked into products sold at the make counter and don't see much of a difference. Thanks for posting!! ~~ Meghan from thetastyfork.com
ReplyDeleteI did not know this about witch hazel! I've had a serious acne breakout problem the past 2 years, especially that time of the month. The past few weeks have been the worst, so I'm trying to find new products that will help. I am going to have to try witch hazel!
ReplyDeleteI seriously love witch hazel. It's the only thing I use.
ReplyDeleteDoes the smell of the witch hazel linger? I can't stand the smell of it. I'm also a dedicated face washer- there have been times I've come home intoxicated and passed out and then woken up 3 hours later in the middle of the night and HAVE to wash the make up off my face, I just need to go to bed with clean skin.
