Wedding Wednesday: Photogs and Videographers

As promised, I am going to reveal who we have chosen as our photographer and videographer for our wedding.

A little background first:  I was a little shocked and overwhelmed at how many photographers there are out there and how expensive they are.  That really through me for a loop.  I realize that this is more than likely their livelihood and you are paying for more than just a photograph.  I get that.  It was still a little shocking to swallow when I saw the numbers.  And it didn't help that I realized that Jeremy and I would have to pay for this ourselves.  I know it's the right decision and I am really excited about how we have chosen, but it was still a little shocking.

For our photographer:
I had picked out a few people that fit in with what we were comfortable paying and that I liked their pictures.  We hadn't met anyone until after we got engaged (duh) and I didn't contact any photogs before we were engaged, although I would look and see how much their base prices were.

There was one husband and wife team that I really liked.  I loved the way their pictures looked and I contacted them to get some prices.  Luckily, they were in our price range.  I was really excited.  I thought we had found "the ones".  Then we Skyped with them and honestly, Jeremy didn't seem excited.  I could take a picture from a brick wall but to get Jeremy excited about taking pictures is like going to the dentist for a double root canal.  He hates getting his picture taken.  So I knew going in that it was important that he liked whoever we chose.

One day he is at work and helps a customer who is a photographer.  Jeremy, being the smart fiance he is, asks the guy what sort of photography he does.  He finds out that it's wedding photography so he gathers up information (for me) and helps the guy out.  He came home and was excited about his finding.  I should have know there that this was the photog we were going to choose.  I looked at his website to see what sort of photography he does and it was different from the photogs I had found.  Nothing wrong with that; it was just different from what I was expecting.  Now I realize that his pictures are gorgeous and I am excited for him to shoot our wedding.

We decided to meet with him at Starbucks in Atlantic Station and the conversation just happened.  Jeremy seemed very comfortable and engaged with him (which is a big deal if you know Jeremy at all).  It was really a great conversation and it made me so happy to see Jer excited.

So here it is:  Our Photographer.
All these pictures are from him...aren't they amazing?

For our Videographer:
This was another thing I was completely shocked at how much it was going to be.  I really had no idea that some of the best videographers in the business charge $6,500 for a destination wedding.  Holy what?  Yea...we don't have that kind of money floating around.

Many months before I got engaged, one of my sisters friend's Lily was talking about her friends videography business.  It was newly launched but she did the trailer along with the feature film (something I really wanted).  I held onto that until I got engaged.  Probably within the week, I contacted Lily to found out information about her friends' business, and from there it just grew into something I knew I couldn't pass up.

At this point we knew we weren't getting married until 2014, so that gave me a lot of time to ask tons of questions and to really do some research and make sure that she was the one we would go with.

She was great!  And what we are getting for the money is much more than anyone else I found.  I am so excited!  We are getting rehearsal dinner coverage as well (which I am excited about) along with all day coverage wedding day and interviews.
