Is This Important To You?
I have blogged about this wedding last month, but I wanted to share something else with you.
As I have been working on planning my wedding, there has been one thing that I will not budge on. I am very passionate about this and I know it's something that is very important to me. It's hiring a videographer.
I know that there are a lot of brides who A) don't think it's important or B) don't think they have the money in the budget. I totally understand that, but I am going to show you a wedding video from a couple who had a very strict budget but was still able to find the money for a video and I am so happy they did.

To the brides that don't think a video is important: I disagree. I am not saying that what is important to you isn't right. I just think (after being to a lot of weddings recently) that the night goes by so quickly it is hard to remember everything that happened and photographs can't capture everything.
This is the video from my cousins' wedding and you can see my grandmother putting the flowers together. I absolutely love that. I don't know if they got a picture of her doing the flowers, but seeing her in a video is so much more special to me. That is why I want a video. My uncle Jim also officiated their ceremony. How special is that to have that on video? And it's something you will have for the rest of your life. Something you can watch whenever you want (like on anniversaries) to remember how you were feeling that day and bring back all the emotions of that day.
I hope you guys understand what I mean by having a videographer. It doesn't have to be the best in the business. Nicole said their wedding was this companies first wedding video. They get all the raw footage along with the trailer. No feature film (which is fine), since they get all the raw footage. They can do whatever they want with the rest. I just think it's important mainly for all the people who might not be around forever.

In other fun wedding news, we have officially booked our photographer and videographer. More on that later!
I really want to have a videographer at my wedding when I get married!! Luckily my brother and his friend are pretty into it :)

ReplyDeleteBEST DECISION EVER! I love watching our wedding video (even though our ceremony was about 4 minutes long! If that...Beach wedding...uh-mazing!)

I was totally in the "let's save some money and we don't need it" boat, and I really wish we had considered it and done a little more research. It wasn't even something I thought about! I think we would have been very open to getting the raw footage from someone and then getting it produced a few years later. I really wish we had done it, so I think it's great that you already know you want one. You're so right, the day goes by in such a blur and I'm sure there were some funny moments that Marc and I missed that I would love to see. Definitely a wise move!
ReplyDeleteBecause our photographer does videos where she combines photos and video clips from the wedding, I didn't consider hiring someone to specifically video it. But I don't think I would hire a videographer because I know I'd watch it when we got it and 20 years later- for us not worth the extra cost. I can totally understand someone's reasoning for wanting one, just not for us.

ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a videographer, although if I could have found a way to have it work in our budget I would have loved to. I do have video though, since I gave my friend's boyfriend a flip camera to film the ceremony. And in addition my dad filmed quite a bit on his camera as well. So while we don't have a big film, I am happy we have at least some footage from our wedding.
